Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart 25

Today I am thankful for the holiday season.  I know we get too wrapped up in the preperations, decorations and the "commercialism" of it all, but the holiday season is such a blessing.  It gives us a reason to get together with our friends and family.  Sure, the gathering may be disguised as a tacky sweater Christmas party, but at least we are all together!
People seem to be nicer around the holidays as well.  For some reason, people are more willing to help others at this time than any other time of the year.  People are nicer, more generous, more charitable and generally more welcoming.  Maybe it's because the true meaning behind the holidays is more "in your face".  I always think of the commercial for some type of baby item (diapers maybe?) that runs during Christmas time.  It shows lots of shots of babies sleeping and in the background children are singing, "Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me." Why do we have to wait until December to run ads like that, why can't they run all year round? Why do we have to remember "the reason for the season", why can't we remember the reason for ALL seasons?  I think if more people kept Christmas in their hearts all year round, we would be better off!
